What is Spiritual Awakening?
1. Intro
Let’s face it, the best way to describe what we experience when we are spiritually awakened is a blanket term. It is all encompassing. It encompasses our sense of self, our place in the universe, and even all of the things that keep us from awakening.
One of the best ways to understand spiritual awakenings is through psychotherapy.
One of the most influential and well-known therapists who worked on spiritual awakenings was psychiatrist Carl G. Jung (1869-1961), a professor at the University of Zurich who had an extensive background in clinical psychology before becoming a psychotherapist himself.
In his book “Psychology of Religion” (1954), he describes what he calls “stages of spiritual awakening” which include:
“The First Stage: An initial awareness and realization that there is something dramatically different, radically different, and beyond the familiar world.“
“The Second Stage: A vigorous attempt to integrate this new knowledge into one’s current life situation.”
“The Third Stage: A gradual development out of this first stage and into some aspect or aspects of life that are less familiar or intellectually accessible.“
2. The Symptoms of Spiritual Awakening
There are many spiritual awakenings and many people experience them. They often come in various forms:
5. Occult awareness (Occultic Knowledge)
3. What are the effects of spiritual awakening?
This style of self-realization comes when we feel as though there is an independent, separate personality within our own being, even when we are experiencing the same feelings and thoughts as other people.
We’re not sure what this feeling might be called. Many people refer to it as enlightenment . Others call it awakening . A few simply call it a shift in consciousness . Whatever you decide to call it, spiritual awakening can be one of the most profound experiences you or anyone else will ever have in their lives.
But what does spiritual awakening really mean? It might be a feeling or a thought that comes to us at times when we don’t expect it. It might be an experience that happens in dreams or while meditating, or maybe even while we are sleeping. The experience itself isn’t always clear, but there are certain characteristics that help us recognize this state if we have experienced them before.
Many people claim that a spiritual awakening caused them to abandon their old religions, organizations and life paths. This was something they had been battling for years without any evidence that they could change their lives for good. On the other hand, others claim not to have experienced such an event at all , but still believe that there is something out there which can assist them in finding their way back home.
It is important for everyone who has experienced this form of growth to acknowledge that spiritual awakening can happen anytime, anywhere , even if you’ve never been religious before . And those who go through this experience without any prior belief system would agree with me: spirituality doesn’t need religion to exist; spirituality exists already within us on its own terms and should be acknowledged by anyone who feels like they would benefit from exploring its potential benefits at least once in their lifetime.
